Generations of Regeneration

Generations of Regeneration was a project exploring the connections between Southampton’s communities and universities, with a focus on climate, nature and sustainability.

We held an evolving exhibition October Books between April and June 2025, looking at past and current collaborative projects with a climate, nature or sustainability theme. This included research projects, informal collaborations between students and community groups and other means by which university people have worked with people in the Southampton community. See this Global Documentary film about the project, made by Southampton's Paul Maple.

We  held a series of events and asked community members and university people who had been involved in collaborative projects to share their learning. Together we reflected on what has led to strong collaboration, change and positive impact, and what else needs focus. The results were processed and summarised in the above poster "Our Findings: Ways of Working Together". The project enabled us to get to know more people who care about climate, nature and sustainability. The results are being used to influence change, and also make sure that we have  a reference point for future projects.

This project was a collaborative project between The Southampton Collective, Southampton Climate Action Network and The Sustainability and Resilience Institute at The University of Southampton
